Nigerian Dwarf Goats,Winter Storm 2011

We raise Jack Russell Terriers and Nigerian Dwarf Goats as a hobby to learn the skills of farming and responsibility of managing a small farm.  We also raise chickens on a small scale.  We spend lots of "hands on" time.  All of our animals are handled on a daily basis and display that in their response to people. We do not bottle raise our goat kids unless there is a specific need to do so.  We dam raise all our kids with the objective to have nature provide our babies with the rich milk, love and sweet nuzzling of their Mom's. There are benefits to dam raising kids, but there are also great benefits to bottle feeding as well. It is a personal choice and if there be a need, we will be happy to bottle feed any kid at any given time.

We are located in New Hampshire 20 minutes South of the Hampton Beach area.

VISIT...Come visit our farm.  We always have lots of animals to see. Our favorite time of the year is Spring, when we have kids running jumping and froliking about on their "mountain" of rocks or just basking in the sun, taking a long warm bath of golden rays.
We have been raising goats for6 years now.  We had no intention of doing so, but we fell in love with the first kids we got and decided to have a few more. Well.. goats are like chips, once you open the bag you must have more.  We currently have 7 does and 2 bucks until he Most of our visitors return to see these little wonders and enjoy a little "goat talk", that tends to be more than just a "Quick Stop".

   "Rayla"
Owned and named by Goat Keeper Chloe, (age 15) residing at a lovely family farm in Groveland Mass.  It is very important for us to place our goats in great forever homes.

We are highly recommended, many of our prior customers send other families to inquire about goat keeping themselves. It has become a small community with many small farms involved.  Although we do maintain a closed herd, we always welcome new families to enjoy the gift of keeping these interesting creatures.

Is it really snowing out there?  Can't wait to Play !

The Name... Periwinkle Farm is more than just a name.... Well it's a very long story...

We were trying to find a purposeful name for our farm. Maybe a name of a flower or season etc. As I thought of flowers the first meaningful flower, PERIWINKLE came to mind. You see, I went for a routine check-up in 2005 and the quick visit turned into months and months of Chemotherapy.  I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma with tumors through-out my body. In that very difficult time, my mother in-law sent me this sweet little pin. It was a  Periwinkle Flower designed by a woman with the same illness, who was donating her profit to the  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.   I never forgot that gift and it's meaning, as I continue to remain in remission with physical and mental pet therapy on a daily basis. Please Bless all the sick and suffering and our Soldiers Serving our Country.

Cancer Treatment...

Investigations by the Lilly Company into the antidiabetic activity of the plant found no effect on blood sugar levels but uncovered the antineoplastic effects of plant extracts. Vincristine and vinblastine bind to tubulin in cellular microtubules, thus preventing polymerization, arresting cellular division and killing the cell. These drugs may also exert immunosuppressant activity and may interfere with other components of the cell cycle to induce cellular death. .                                                             These drugs are used for the treatment of malignant lymphomas, leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, Kaposi's sarcoma and mycosis fungoides, among others. An extensive body of literature exists on the clinical uses of the various purified alkaloids of Catharanthus .
